Reimagined Episode of Pingjiang

The three members of MAGESPACE—Villo Jiang, Chenxu Zhao and Qifan Yu—were born and raised in Suzhou. Reimagined Episode of Pingjiang draws on their shared memories of its historic district to examine changes in everyday life, the relocation of residents and commercial development.

Photography, image collage, collected sound and installation bring personal memories into relation with urban space. Morning markets, the Wu dialect, street vendors and waterways meet the district’s tourist landscape in a local chronicle assembled from the artists’ perspectives.
